Idaho Falls Man Arrested After Standoff

Police said Jared R. Buchanan, 31, was threatening people with a gun.

It happened inside the Blue Wave Bar on Friday night. Idaho Falls police said they were called to the scene following reports of Buchanan making the threats, after being asked to leave the bar for head-butting and punching a waitress earlier in the evening.

When officers arrived, they said they found Buchanan outside, holding a gun to his head.

According to police, the SWAT team was called in and a perimeter was set up. But the standoff ended before SWAT members had arrived, they said.

Police said they shot Buchanan with a gas gun and a bean bag gun. Buchanan was treated for minor injuries at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and released into police custody.

Buchanan is being charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple battery.
