New Idaho Falls Magnet School Named

The opening of District 91’s new magnet school at Clair E. Gayle is getting closer.

School board members voted unanimously earlier today to name the district’s new magnet school, Compass Academy.

Compass Academy will open this fall to freshmen and sophomores. Administrators say an additional class will be added each year so that within three years, the school will be a full four-year high school with about 600 students.

“Now we’re just waiting for September to come so we can open up just as soon as we can,” said Matt Bertasso, director at Compass Academy. “All of the teachers are excited for it. It may be April but they’re excited for September.”

At the moment, almost 300 students have enrolled in Compass Academy. A limited amount of slots are still open.
