Charter School Gets Flooded Overnight
Teachers at the Pocatello Community Charter School were in for a wet surprise Monday morning when they walked in to see an inch of standing water in the building.
Principal Martha Martin said a pipe to a water fountain in one of the classrooms broke overnight, and water poured out into the fifth through eighth grade wing.
Martin said her staff sprung into action, alerting parents and catching students before they came in.
Class was cancelled, and Martin said, luckily, nothing major was destroyed.
“You can see that student work (is) drying all over the school. People started to move things to drier areas, everybody just wanted to help and everybody wanted to know what to do,” Martin said.
Because of moisture safety tests that need to be done, school will be cancelled again on Tuesday.
