Madison High School student honored
He’s bright, talented and well-rounded. Those are just some of the reasons Madison High School Senior Kash Merrill gets the United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award.
It’s spring time so Kash Merrill is practicing his baseball batting. But if it were a few months earlier you’d see him out on the court playing on the basketball team.
“I’ve had a lot of fun being involved in a lot of sports, and last year our team won the state basketball championship and that was a very fun, positive experience,” Kash says.
One thing Kash learned playing sports is determination, and that’s carried over to his school work as well. Kash has a perfect 4.0 GPA because he attacks his school work the same way he helped his basketball team win a state championship last year.
“Just being determined to get every assignment in on time, and doing every assignment to the best of your ability is key in that, I think,” Kash says.
While sports are a big part of Kash’s life, he’s well rounded. He’s involved in music too.
“I’m involved in the Bel Cantos Choir here at school and that has been a very positive, fun experience just to be with a bunch of people and be able to come and sing every day, and I think music is a good thing to have in your life -it broadens the range of everything you have,” Kash says.
Kash has the same advice for those entering high school we’ve heard time and time again this year from our Distinguished Students.
“I would say be involved as much as possible and get to meet as many new people as possible, because it’s always more fun to have a lot more friends and a lot of activities that you’re involved in,” Kash says.
