Texting being blamed for accident on US 20
Texting is being blamed for yet another accident.
Idaho state police say a 2002 Jeep Liberty slammed into the back of parked police vehicle on U.S. Highway 20 just after 4 p.m. Tuesday near the Menan-Lorenzo Highway.
The Jefferson County deputy patrol vehicle was parked behind a fire engine responding to a fire in the median. The patrol vehicle had its lights and arrow stick activated to help protect the scene.
Brian J. Anderson, 22 of Idaho Falls, was driving on US20 in the Jeep Liberty when he rear ended the patrol vehicle.
Anderson told Idaho State Police Troopers he had received a text message on his phone and was looking at it just prior to impact.
No one was in the police car at the time of the accident, and the only person hurt was Anderson, who was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Anderson was cited for inattentive driving.
