Community celebrates 2nd annual Summer Fest

The Idaho Falls community united on Saturday to spread awareness and prevention of domestic violence.

Organizers said the area’s second annual Summer Fest event, hosted by Breaking Boundaries, is a way of remembering a local family after their only children and grandchildren were murdered last May.
They say it’s also a way to educate the public on domestic violence and raise money for the prevention of it.
Summer Fest offers a variety of activities for families to enjoy, including a 5K race, live music, free food and plenty of games.
“Domestic violence is a horrible thing and it does happen in our community,” said Theron McGriff, Breaking Boundaries President. “Our hope is that we can make people that are living in a tough situation that there are resources out there to help them.”
All proceeds generated through the event will be donated to the Breaking Boundaries group and the local Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center.
