SUV goes into Snake River

A Rexburg man had a close call when his SUV wound up in the Snake River in Jefferson County on Saturday evening.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Danon Perry stopped his Toyota 4-Runner a little too close to the water on the Menan boat dock. Perry accidentally let off the brake and pushed the accelerator – launching the vehicle into the river.

Officials said Perry got out of the vehicle and made it to shore safely. The SUV was swept down the river about 200 yards before it got stuck on a gravel bar.
