Idaho Falls man pleads guilty to sexual abuse

An Idaho Falls man pleaded guilty to felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 16 as part of a plea agreement in an arraignment proceeding Wednesday.

Bonneville County Deputy Prosecutor Daniel Clark said George Robert Jones, 57, could face a minimum of five years to a maximum of 25 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Jones was initially charged with misdemeanor indecent exposure, unlawful entry and disturbing the peace after he entered a women’s bathroom at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium in April.

As part of the plea agreement, Jones agrees to obtain psycho-sexual evaluation including a polygraph examination. Clark said that if that exam shows Jones has never sexually touched a minor inappropriately, the prosecutor’s office will accept the minimum sentence.

Jones is being held in the Bonneville County Jail on $250,000 bond.
