Police: Man tried to steal cars after stealing doughnut

Police in the southwestern Idaho city of Nampa say they’ve arrested a man accused of attempting to carjack several cars so he could flee after stealing a doughnut from a local grocery store.

Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Randall says 27-year-old Marty Glass has been charged with several felonies including battery, strong-arm robbery and assault.

Randall says police made the arrest Tuesday afternoon after Winco grocery store employees reported they had confronted a man who stole a doughnut, and that the suspect punched two workers before running outside. Randall says that’s when the man began trying to carjack several vehicles. All his attempts apparently failed, and the man was eventually taken into custody after several citizens and officers were able to subdue him.
