Brothers escape from car submerged in canal

Two Blackfoot brothers escaped from their car when it was submerged in water Sunday evening.

Tyler Condon, 19, said he was driving too fast for the corner near 450 North and Rose Road, sending his Pontiac Grand Prix into the Rose Canal.

His brother, Alex, was in the passenger seat.

“It looks like Alex was completely underwater. I thought he was like, already dead. I yelled, ‘Seat belts!’ and I heard his click. And I was digging through the water and got mine,” said Tyler Condon.

“Our survival mode hit and we were out,” said Alex Condon.

Alex said as they were trying to escape from the water, but the car was drifting behind them making it difficult to get out.

The two only suffered minor cuts.
