Fireworks will spark noise violations

The Fourth of July is almost a week away and many people like to celebrate by shooting off fireworks. But not everyone enjoys the beautiful show in the sky.

Every year, the Idaho Falls Police Department sees an increase in firework noise complaints during the summer months. Police respond to noise complaint calls, but must witness the act of shooting off fireworks in order to issue a citation. This can make it difficult for those who want peace in the middle of the night. The best way to come up with a compromise.

“If you don’t like to be woken up in the middle of the night, then think about how your neighbors must feel if they’re in the dead of sleep and they got fireworks going off and around them,” saidJoelyn Hansen, public information officer at the Idaho Falls Police Department.

Police will issue a citation if you disrupt the peace. You will have to appear in court where the maximum penalty is up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.
