Snake River Search gets new gear

A local search and rescue group is slowly upgrading the equipment volunteers use to save lives, thanks to the help of two grants.

SRS is a privately owned and maintained rescue group.

Workers volunteer their time and even their resources to rescue those in need.

The CHC Foundation donated more than $4,000 to the group, which went toward the purchase of a thermal imaging camera, used to find people through body heat.

The group received another $2,000 from the American Kennel Club to purchase GPS tracking collars for canine search missions.

“We can see the dogs at all times and know what areas we’ve covered,” said Mary Anderson, a SRS volunteer.

The group conducts search and rescue missions in eastern Idaho, western Wyoming, northern Utah and even Montana.
