Sheriff: Man resists deputies, Taser

A man is in custody after Fremont County deputies said he led them on a pursuit — even after he was Tased.

James Kenneth Ward was pulled over in a routine traffic stop Thursday on South Yellowstone Highway. Deputies learned that Ward had an active felony warrant out of Wyoming. During the stop, when a deputy asked Ward about his identity, Ward became”very nervous.”

While the deputy went back to his patrol car, Ward sped off in his vehicle through Simplot Soil Builder’s property and rammed through a locked fence with his vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. The vehicle then went south, but deputies were blocking the road. Ward then pulled into another business and fled on foot.

Deputies attempted to capture him while he was on foot.

They Tased Ward, but he broke the wires from the Taser and continued running.

According to a news release, deputies were then able to get ahold of him and took him into custody.

Ward is being held in Fremont County Jail on a $200,000 bond, as well as the a $100,000 bond with his felony warrant out of Wyoming. Ward was charged with felony eluding, felony malicious injury to property, and resisting and obstructing.
