Local community thanks those who serve

Saturday’s warm temperatures were the perfect backdrop for Military Appreciation Day in Idaho Falls.

Dozens of local community members gathered together as a way of saying thank you to all of the men and women who have served our country.

The University of Phoenix holds this celebration every year, which they’ve named “Operation Thank You.”

School officials said the university has strong ties with the military, as the school helps military members complete their dreams of higher education.

“Our goal is to provide education and access to education for active military around the world, locally, for reserve and guard, and for military spouses and veterans,” said Bill Bach, campus director.

The university also donated $2,000 to the local Military Affairs Committee, to help veterans in need.
