Morin blasts HR, Chukars defeat Ogden
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Parker Morin celebrated his 21st birthday by hitting his second home run of the year, and the Idaho Falls Chukars beat the Ogden Raptors 5-2 Monday night.
The Chukars have now won two in a row to pull within two games of first-place Ogden in the south division standings.
Morin hit a solo shot in the 8th inning to give Idaho Falls a three-run advantage. Morin finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Center fielder Ethan Chapman extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in the 8th.
Starting pitcher Sam Selman went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a single walk. Selman struck out five, but didn’t earn a decision as Joe Lopez (1-0) picks up the win. Lopez pitched 2.1 innings, striking out two. Alec Mills earns the save (3), going two innings and fanning three.
Idaho Falls (8-7) returns to action Tuesday night against Ogden (10-5) at Melaleuca Field.
