Fire damages part of Rexburg Kmart

Damage was minor after fire broke out in the lawn and garden area outside K Mart in Rexburg Monday. Rexburg-Madison Fire Division Chief Dave Davis said the fire broke out in a stack of plastic shelving that had been stored against the side of the building. Aside from melted plastic, the concrete building suffered only paint damage.

The cause of the fire has been formally listed as “unknown”. Shoppers and workers were safely evacuated and there were no injuries.
