New York man rescued from Grand Teton
A New York man is safe after his helicopter rescue in Grand Teton National Park at around 6 pm Thursday. Park officials say 28 year old David Perlman of Brooklyn was ascending the Grand Teton when several rocks broke free, striking him and causing a significant injury.
A member of Perlman’s climbing party continued to the Lower Saddle area to summon help. Two park rangers initiated a rescue operation. Once on scene they stabilized Perlman’s injury and with the help of other climbers in the area brought him to the park’s seasonal hut on the Lower Saddle.
Under low cloud cover, a helicopter met the group there and evacuated Perlman to Lupine Meadows where he was met by an ambulance and transported to St. John’s Medical Center in Jackson for further care. His condition and the nature of his injury was not released.
