Yellowstone visitation passes 2011 levels

June was a busy month at Yellowstone National Park. According to the National Park Service, the park saw 674,498 visitors in June. That is up over six percent compared to year ago levels. It is also second only to record levels reported in June 2010.

Visitation for the first six months of 2012 is also up over 2011. The park recorded 1,044,570 recreational visitors from January through June. That is an 11 percent year to year increase.

July is typically the park’s peak visitation month, followed in order by August, June, September, and May.
