Fremont County truck stolen same night as inmate’s escape

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a county vehicle apparently stolen from the County Road and Bridge Department fleet last Thursday. That’s the same night an inmate from the Department of Corrections St. Anthony Work Camp turned up missing. The theft was reported to the Sheriff’s office Monday.

The missing vehicle is a 2003 White Chevy K2500 with a utility bed and license plate C12521. The truck also has a Fremont County emblem on each door and the number 165 on each front quarter panel.

The inmate, who was still at large Monday, is 39-year-old Tarango Deforest Padilla. Padilla was last seen wearing a brown duck short coat, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a white shirt with a thermal top. He was serving a seven- to 15-year sentence for two counts of grand theft from Twin Falls County.

Anyone with information about the inmate or the missing truck should call the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office at 624-4482.
