Main Street Buzz: Idaho Art Lab aims to become community safe haven

A place to kick back, relax and be creative is the center of this week’s Main Street Buzz.

The Idaho Art Lab in St. Anthony has just moved to a new location on South Yellowstone Avenue.

Artists of all skill levels are welcome to stop in and create works of art in just about any medium.

Director Kara Hidalgo is also setting up a kitchen, a lounge and computer lab with Internet access for anyone who wishes to use them. She wants her new art lab to be about more than just art.

“I think, especially for the youths in the area, it’s really important that they have a feeling of being accepted and kind of hanging out in a spot where they just know that nobody’s judging them, and they can just be at home and be comfortable,” Hidalgo said.

The Art Lab will eventually team up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to further their goal of helping Idaho’s youth.
