Jet ski crash sends two to hospital

A man and a girl were injured at around 6:30 pm Wednesday while riding a jet ski on the Snake River in Idaho Falls.

Witnesses said they were going very fast, about 50 mph, when another rider cut them off. The man’s jet ski hit an underwater rock and sent both of them over the handle bars.

Several police and paramedics were called to help, but a couple of boys in the area at the time became the first responders. They helped pull the victims from the water.

“It was just a reaction,” the boys said. “We wanted to help.”

Witnesses say the man broke his leg and the girl sustained a cut to her stomach.

Investigators said the girl was standing along the side of the river bank and asked the man for a ride. He agreed after she got permission from her parents.
