Police have arrested a man on burglary charges after he was found to have more than $200 in coins.

At about 4 a.m. Monday, Rexburg officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Pines apartments. The suspect was sitting in darkness in the lounge when confronted by an officer.

Christian Buhler, 51, was found in possession of a lock pick and more than $200 in coins. The apartment’s coin machines were found to either have been broken into or damaged in an attempt to break into them.

Buhler was arrested on charges of burglary, theft and possession of a burglary tool.

Police said Buhler is from Montana or possibly the Boise area.

The incident is under investigation.
