Rexburg police: Woman kidnapped 3 children
Rexburg and Utah police are tracking down a woman they said has kidnapped three children.
Police say an Orem woman drove to her ex-husband’s home in Rexburg, and despite not having custody, took her two daughters and her husband’s daughter from another marriage back to Utah without her ex-husband’s knowledge.
Capt. Randy Lewis said the children called Heather Anne John from a nearby home after they had successfully sneaked out of their father’s house.
Heather John, 29, did something similar before, said Lewis. In December, John pulled her two daughters, Kiera and Dezirae John, then 6 and 9, respectively, from Kennedy Elementary School in Rexburg. She did not have custody rights then, either, and was found in Utah, where she surrendered the children peacefully. It was suspected that she was taking the children to Las Vegas.
This time, her destination is unknown. The children are not considered to be in danger.
She was not charged in December’s incident. This time, Lewis said, things will not go so easy for her.
“She is not going toslide through the system on this go around,” he said.
John will probably face child custody interference and felony kidnapping charges.
The name of the girl who is not John’s biological daughter is not being released.
John is also known by her maiden name of Fisher.
