Idaho Falls’ Pioneer Road to close on Sunday

A new challenge will face Idaho Falls motorists when Pioneer Road closes at its intersection with Pancheri Drive this weekend. As part of the Pancheri Overpass replacement project, the Idaho Transportation Department will close the road Sunday. It will reopen after it is rerouted in November to connect with Milligan Road.

All businesses and residences on Pioneer Road will be available to motorists via Sunnyside Road. Travel on Pancheri will be maintained with one lane open in each direction.

ITD says there could be intermittent delays on Interstate 15 at night once girders are placed on the new overpass structure and removal of the old overpass begins.

Contractors plan to work seven days a week. Drivers should anticipate merging traffic and watch for construction workers and equipment.
