New Day CEO appointed to state council

A local non-profit CEO is moving up to take a position at the state level.

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter appointed New Day Products CEO Terry Fredrickson to the Council of Purchasing Services for Non Profit Organizations Serving People with Disabilites.

As a part of the council, Fredrickson said he’ll be working to secure state contracts for disabled people.

The council is an initiative born out of legislation that Fredrickson worked on with Rep. Elaine Smith (D-Pocatello) to allow services from disabled workers to be competitive with bids from other state contractors.

Fredrickson, who will maintain his position as CEO at New Day, held a small celebration at New Day’s Orange and Black Store on Thursday night, where he said, this is all about giving people the chance to succeed.

“We’re giving people a paycheck that, they normally wouldn’t have a paycheck, so being able to have that paycheck and seeing that smile and saying, ‘Look, I’m a part of this community, I’m a part of this state,’ that’s worth a million dollars,” Fredrickson said.

Fredrickson’s duties started on June 19.
