Teton County Sheriff’s Office receives forfeiture funds

An October 26, 2011 traffic stop on Teton Pass was worth $6,972 to the Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Department. On Thursday, the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office returned the county’s share of $34,000 in forfeiture funds associated with the case.

Deputies seized the currency and arrested the driver for possession of marijuana. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation determined that a substantial amount of the seized money were the proceeds of marijuana trafficking.

The Sheriff’s Office says the money will be used to help pay for future illegal drug investigations.
