2 dead in apparent murder-suicide in Madison County

Madison County deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

The sheriff’s office responded Saturday at 6 p.m. to a suspicious death incident reported by a family member involving two persons found in a vehicle at their home at 5115 S. 4800 West.

When deputies arrived, they found victim Paula Emma Sessions, also known as Paula Emma Packer, a 40, and suspect Tommy V. Sessions, 47, both dead.

Madison County Sheriff Roy Klingler said that the relative became concerned on Saturday afternoon, having not heard from the Sessions since Friday.

According to autopsies conducted Sunday, the Paula Sessions died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, and Tommy Sessions died from a single gunshot wound to the head. The weapon used was a 9 mm handgun.

The investigation is continuing.

“Hopefully we can find some closure and we can try to move on,” Klingler said. “Our hearts go out to everyone involved. These things are tragic.”
