Chukars beat Grand Junction in extra innings
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The Idaho Falls Chukars won their second game to start the second half of the season Monday night with a 4-3 victory over Grand Junction at Melaleuca Field.
Rockies pitcher Kyle Roliard walked Ysmelin Alcantara with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th.
Idaho Falls pitchers dominated the Rockies’ batters, striking out 17 and walking zero. Alec Mills started the game, going five innings and fanning seven. Andrew Stueve pitched five innings of relief, striking out six, but it was Corey Hall (1-1) who picked up the victory.
Ethan Chapman and Jin Ho Shin led the way for the Chukars’ batters, each going two-for-five at the plate.
Idaho Falls embarks on a six-game road trip, beginning with three games in Ogden before visiting Orem for three more. The Chukars return to Melaleuca Field Monday, August 6.
