Police: Woman stops car, tries to take driver’s phone

A Logan, Utah, woman ran out in front of a car and tried to grab the driver’s cell phone, Idaho Falls police said.

Officers responded to Memorial Drive and B Street around 10 p.m. Wednesday for a disturbance. The police department did not release information on the incident until Monday.

A driver said a woman, later identified as Candice Cox, 26, was acting crazy and jumped out in front of her vehicle, causing the driver to stop.

Cox told the driver that she needed help and then reached into her car trying to grab her cell phone. The driver drove away and called police.

Police found Cox with 25-year-old Aaron Montgomery of Idaho Falls and a 3-year-old child along the Greenbelt.

Cox began acting loud, irrational and belligerent as police spoke with her.

She was arrested on charges of assault on certain personnel, possession of a controlled substance, minor injury to a child, possession of paraphernalia, under the influence of controlled substance in public and resisting and obstructing an officer. Police said she had methamphetamine and syringes.

While being booked into jail, she was uncooperative and aggressively swung toward jail deputies.

Police also arrested Montgomery on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and minor injury to a child, as well as two misdemeanor warrants.
