ISU basketball team locked down on California campus
The Idaho State men’s basketball team was put on lock down Wednesday night in California.
The team is there preparing for a game Thursday against Cal State Fullerton.
A school spokesman said the team is fine and went to dinner at the Olive Garden after being released from their practice space on campus.
About 20 minutes into their practice Wednesday an emergency intercom informed the team the campus was on lock down.
Police are searching for a group of armed men who lead them on a high speed chase. Police believe the men robbed a pawn shop.
Police chased the car until the driver and passengers bailed out near the Cal State Fullerton campus.
Officers arrested two of the men, but two others ran onto the campus and disappeared. A third managed to carjack another car and led police on his own chase before bailing out.
The SWAT team is still doing a room-to-room search on the campus.
The Bengals will head back to their hotel which we’re told is only about 20 feet from campus.
As of now, Thursday’s game against the Titans is still on with an 8 o’clock tip.
