Prosecutor won’t seek charges against Storer

Special prosecutor Jay Rosenthal announced the completion of the investigation filed against former Idaho Falls City Attorney Dale Storer on Friday morning.

Rosenthal concluded there will be no criminal charges filed again Storer and his firm. Rosenthal hired a retired FBI investigator to look at the allegations. The investigation went back to the early ’80s. They reviewed Storer’s bills to the city and determined the city was underbilled and owes Storer’s firm about $4,000 dollars.

When Storer resigned in September of last year, Idaho Falls Mayor Jared Fuhriman told Local News 8 that had Storer not stepped down voluntarily, he would have been fired over the controversy over his billing practices.

The investigation only looked into the billing issue, and not the accusations from Bryan Smith, a prominent Idaho Falls attorney, who told the City Council last month that Storer had been illegally taking Public Retirement System of Idaho — or PERSI — funds for years.
