Car crashes into power pole in Idaho Falls

Traffic was tied up on Yellowstone between Holmes and Elva due to a Volkswagon Golf crashing into a power pole shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Power was restored around 6:30 p.m.

A police officer at the accident said the crash occurred due to road rage or racing. The other vehicle involved was not at the scene.

Power went out around Northgate Mile, Yellowstone and Holmes. The Local News 8 office, a few blocks away on Yellowstone, experienced a power bump when the crash occurred.

Holmes was closed from Yellowstone to Anderson on Tuesday evening while crews worked to repair the damage.
