Phillips 66 workers discover credit card skimmers

Police are investigating the installation of credit card skimmers found on gas pumps at two Phillips 66 locations in Idaho Falls.

Both cases were reported to police Thursday. At 2 p.m., employees at the 495 W. 17th St. location working on a malfunctioning gas pump found two credit card skimmers. At 3 p.m., police received notification from employees of the Phillips 66 on Broadway and Skyline that skimmers had been installed on three gas pumps at that location.

Thanks to the cooperation and efforts of the station owners, detectives said Friday that they have been able to determine that the skimmers were installed around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the West 17th location and after 1 a.m. Thursday at the Broadway and Skyline location.

Police immediately removed the skimmers.

Anyone who bought gasoline at these locations and paid at the pumps during those hours is encouraged to contact their credit card company or bank regarding the transaction.

Since this discovery, officers have been working with gas stations to ensure the security of all financial transactions, police said. The police department has not received any further reports of credit card skimmers being found.
