Cab drivers suffer impact from high gas prices
Gas prices are not only affecting commuters, but also those who make their living via their vehicles.
Taxi cab drivers from SafeRide in Idaho Falls are definitely feeling the pain at the pump. Drivers say the company doesn’t pay for their gas, so when they have to fill up it’s out of their own pocket.
Cab driver Jason Griffith drives an average of 80 to 120 miles per day and says the high prices are hurting his wallet.
“Going from paying $20 even just to $30, that’s an extra $10, if you’re doing that every day it can really affect how much money you’re bringing in each week,” said Griffith. Griffith says despite rising gas prices, their fees have not increased.
