Light earthquake shakes Afton area

A magnitude-4.0 earthquake was recorded in southern Idaho around 12:50 a.m. Friday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered about 13 miles southwest of Afton, Wyo.and about 72 miles east-southeast of Pocatello.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office in Afton said it had no calls from people related to the incident, as well as no reports of any damage. The temblor went equally unnoticed in Bannock County.

USGS estimated the depth of the light earthquake at 2.9 miles.
