Firehouse Subs eyes southern Idaho

Firehouse Subs, a nationwide restaurant chain, has announced plans to open 12 restaurants throughout southern Idaho.

The chain is based in Jacksonville, Fla. It was established by brothers and former firefighters, Chris and Robin Sorensen.

Randy Judd of Salt Lake City is overseeing the southern Idaho development. He oversees four franchises in Salt Lake and owns another in Midvale, Utah.

As part of a seven-year market build-out, Judd said, the franchise hopes to open one and possibly two locations in Idaho Falls and one in Pocatello. The company also has an eye on the Twin Falls market.

So far, the company has not identified potential property and is still looking for franchisees interested in operating the stores.

The company’s immediate expansion is focused on Boise, where it plans to open its first restaurant this spring.
