Driver hospitalized after car catches fire

A Pocatello man was hospitalized Thursday after his Audi A6 flipped over, went airborne for 100 feet, landed on its top and caught fire.

Pocatello police said the crash happened around 3000 N. Main Street. Officers were able to put out the fire with fire extinguishers.

Firefighters extricated the driver, Michael Eldridge, from the car. He was transported to Portneuf Medical Center Intensive Care.

Eldridge was cited for DUI, failure to purchase a driver’s license, no insurance and possession of paraphernalia.
