Idaho Falls police look into car burglaries

Idaho Falls police responded to separate car burglary incidents recently.

On Monday night, McKean James Fife, 28, of Idaho Falls, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, public intoxication, theft of services and vehicle burglary.

Officers responded to the Celt bar at Broadway and Park avenues after Fife allegedly left without paying. They said they found him outside the bar causing a disturbance.

While Fife was being placed under arrest, officers found several stolen items, including a vehicle registration, in his possession. The items were linked to a car burglary.

Fife was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

On Tuesday, officers responded to the 1400 block of Riviera for a report of minors burglarizing cars. When police responded, they saw two people on scooters riding south on Riviera. The two left their scooters and ran when they saw police.

Officers found a 17-year-old boy hiding behind a shed. He was found in possession of stolen property taken from vehicles in the neighborhood. He also was found in possession of a marijuana pipe and under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested on a charge of vehicle burglary and was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Police did not locate the other suspect.

In addition, police are investigating multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred in the 500 block of Laurelwood Avenue either late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Police took reports of seven vehicle burglaries and two garage burglaries.

Many of the vehicles and garages had been gone through, and some had cash missing.

Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to contact the Idaho Falls police at (208) 529-1200 or Crimestoppers at 522-1983.
