Man given probation for video voyeurism

The former chairman of the Lava Hot Springs Planning & Zoning Commission has been sentenced to five years’ probation for recording a woman in the showers at a Lava Hot Springs campground.

Cory Unsworth pleaded guilty in February to felony video voyeurism and was sentenced Monday by Sixth District Judge Stephen Dunn.

Police say a Utah woman’s family called the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office in December to report a cellphone was pointed toward her from beneath the shower-room door as the woman was drying herself.

Unsworth initially denied any involvement, but later told detectives he recorded the victim for up to 15 seconds.

The Idaho State Journal reports Unsworth later admitted to having done it as many as 80 times in the past. Police said he apologized after the incident.

Unsworth managed the campground.

He now lives in Utah, and he must apply for permission to serve his probation there.
