Christian Clark: Distinguished Student

Brilliant and talented are two words that describe United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award recipient, Christian Clark from Madison High School.

Christian has been studying piano for 14 years. His talent has earned him awards and scholarships, but playing piano has another benefit for Christian.

“One reason I like playing a lot is it’s very relaxing and it clears my mind,” Christian said. “As I become a better pianist I’m able to express myself better and I find music rewarding for that reason.”

Christian has been as dedicated to his academic studies as he has been to practicing piano and it shows. He has maintained straight A’s throughout school. He is one of the few who got a perfect 36 score in all areas of the A-C-T. What’s Christian’s secret to academic success?

“Because I care a lot about my education and it means a lot to me personally so I think of it less as working toward the A-C-T score or the grades as coming to care about what I’m learning,” Christian said.

Christian has also been active in debate, he tutors students learning Spanish, he worked as a research assistant to college professors, and he currently takes a math class at BYU-Idaho. He’s weighing his options now on which University to attend, ranging from Baylor to MIT to Yale to Duke, just to name a few. With his focus on learning it’s no surprise what he wants to do with his life.

“Probably pursue a career in academia – I’d like to teach and do research – it sounds really rewarding to me,” Christian says.
