Idaho Falls zoo opens for season Saturday

The Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls will open for the season Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. you can check out the new sloth bear exhibit.

The two baby sloth bears were born last November. Superintendent of the zoo, Beth Rich, said it’s pretty rare for sloth bears to be born in a zoo. Only 14 zoos in the U.S. have sloth bears and of those only three have breeding pairs.

On Saturday you can name the two new bears for a good cause.
“The two names that get the most money will win. All of the money gathered will be donated to Wildlife SOS which is an organization in India that works hard to save sloth bears,” said Rich.

The Pocatello Zoo opens April 20.
