IFPD warns about power scam

The Idaho Falls Police Department said someone has called two local businesses threatening to disconnect their electricity unless they make payment.

Police remind the public to use caution when anyone solicits money or confidential information through mail, on telephone or the Internet.

In this case, both businesses recognized the call as a scam and kept themselves from becoming victims.

Police recommend that you educate yourself about the latest fraud schemes and key indicators of frauds by visiting http://www.fbi.gov or http://www.ftc.gov. You can also visit http://www.localnews8.com/news/scam-alerts .
