Crews to install streetlights on highways

Crews will install light poles at interchanges in Idaho Falls, Rigby and St. Anthony starting Monday.

The contractor will work on all three interchanges simultaneously, placing 25 light poles at Exits 118 and 119 on Interstate 15 in Idaho Falls, 15 at Exit 322 on U.S. Highway 20 in Rigby and 14 at Exit 346 on U.S. 20 in St. Anthony. Work will be completed by June.

Traffic on I-15 in Idaho Falls will be reduced to one lane in each direction during pole placements.

Lights on the poles will illuminate on- and off-ramps where they intersect state and local roads. Illumination enhances traffic safety, especially in inclement weather, the Idaho Transportation Department said Friday.

The department awarded a $674,800 contract to Ray’s Heating of Salmon for the job.
