Man claiming to be Good Samaritan arrested on assault charge

An Ammon man was arrested after he said he was just trying to help.

Police were called to a parking lot in the 1400 block of Northgate Mile in Idaho Falls around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.

Seth Weisser, 31, of Ammon,told police he saw two people struggling to get a female into a car. Weisser said he thought the woman was being battered, so he approached the car and threatened a man with a gun.

The 37-year-old victim said he and a friend were struggling to get the intoxicated woman into the car.

Weisser was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.
