Falling branch hurts woman in Grand Teton Park
High winds led to a woman getting seriously hurt in Grand Teton National Park on Sunday afternoon.
Park authorities said a “significant wind event” knocked down or broke more than 100 live trees. Much of the damage occurred in the Colter Bay Campground and RV Park, where three or four trees struck vehicles.
A tree branch hit a 30-year-old German woman, causing life-threatening injuries. The branch was about 40 feet long with a 10-inch diameter.
The woman was transported by park ambulance to St. John’s Medical Center in Jackson, Wyo., before being flown to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
