Man dies in Grand Teton climbing accident

A Colorado man died in a climbing accident at Grand Teton National Park on Thursday.

Gary Miller, 55, of Colorado Springs, was descending the Lower Saddle of the Grand Teton when he slipped on snow and slid into an icy water moat.Climbing guides pulled Miller from the moat before six park rangers were flown to a temporary landing zone nearby.

Miller was transported by helicopter to a park rescue cache.He died there at 8:35 p.m.

The Teton County, Wyo., coroner’s office is investigating the exact cause of Miller’s death.
