Idaho Falls to be more friendly to pedestrians

tBonneville County will be a little more bike and pedestrian friendly with a new plan called “Connecting Our Community.”

The City of Idaho Falls and the Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization are teaming up to connect the city through walking and biking.

The project will focus primarily on the greenbelt, bikeway and facility improvements around town.

Overall, there’s more than 20 miles of paved trails in Idaho Falls.

“Walking and biking is the number one activity for many residents and we also want people to be more active,” said Greg Weitzel, Parks & Recreation Director. “If we invest in our parks through walkways and trails, we know that people will use them.”

Organizers are looking for community involvement and feedback on the city’s existing bicycle and greenway trails.
