Power restored in upper valley

As of 7:30 Tuesday night, power has been restored to Rocky Mountain Power customers.

Customers in Rigby, Rexburg, Sugar City, St. Anthony, Parker, Newdale, Sugar City, Teton and Ashton, went without power starting around 4 p.m. At the peak of the outage, power was out for 17,000 customers.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Jeff Hymas said the outage stemmed from an equipment failure.

“Because of high usage, we had to implement rotating outages to manage the system in Rigby, where the problem was located,” he said.
