Man accused of breaking into cars in Bonneville County

A man was arrested in Bonneville County after a property owner alerted police that a man was trying to get inside the home on Heath Lane on Monday around 11:30 p.m.

The homeowner watched as the man entered the garage at another residence.

Deputies identified the man as Ivan R. Alejo of Idaho Falls. They found him walking at the intersection of Deon and Emery. The sheriff’s office said he had stolen items out of numerous vehicles. He had an iPad, several coats and jackets, a makeup bag, bank envelope and gloves that did not belong to him.

“We were able to locate four separate victims who had property missing from their vehicles,” said Sgt. Jeff Edwards in a news release.

Alejo was arrested on a felony burglary charge. Alejo smelled like he had been drinking and admitted to it, the sheriff’s office said, and the 20-year-old also faces the charge of illegal consumption of alcohol.
