Fire burns 10 acres of grain near Idaho Falls

A fire that burned on the 115 North block of Fifth West on Monday afternoon is out.

It started in a grain field around 5 p.m. and threatened homes. It was extinguished before 5:30 p.m.

About 10 acres of grain were burned, the Idaho Falls Fire Department said Tuesday. Although the fire department said the cause of the fire is under investigation, it said proper care and maintenance of equipment could have prevented it. According to a news release, notifying the department sooner could have minimized the damage.
